REC Ireland (Renewable Energy Centre) are installers of renewable heating solutions since 1997. REC Ireland is seeking applications for the role of Engineer/Manager.

Responsibilities

Technical

  • Support Carry out heat load calculations to correctly size boilers, heat pumps, radiators and underfloor heating as per building regulations and grant scheme requirements. Domestic ventilation system specification, sizing and commissioning as per building regulations and grant scheme requirements.
  • A good working knowledge of SEAI’s DEAP software to identify and ensure compliance of domestic heating/ventilation systems for new builds.
  • Provide data sheets/technical documents/support to onsite installation crew as necessary. Identify site location/GPS coordinates to ensure installation crews reach site in good time.
  • Familiarise yourself with the range of products in REC’s portfolio in order to be able to handle technical queries, products include; heat pumps, biomass boilers and stoves, solar thermal, solar photovoltaic, heating system components, heat recovery units, ventilation system components, domestic plumbing components.
  • Familiarise yourself with current grant schemes and their respective requirements.
  • Administration Review - employee’s timesheets/work dockets to relay working hours to bookkeeper for payment of wages etc. Relay any employee issues/queries to bookkeeper/management etc. Data entry and upkeep of spreadsheet records and upkeep of hardcopy files etc.

Marketing

  • Act as intermediary between management and various marketing consultants, website designers and partner manufacturers for various marketing outlets. Initiative, creativity, and self-input desirable.
  • Project Management - each job will be broken down into stages, the office manager will need to liaise with clients/installation crews/other trades etc. to book dates of installation, and to ensure correct materials are to hand on day of installation.
  • Kanban board should be updated periodically to provide an overview of jobs in progress.
  • Relay any potential problems/scheduling issues on site to management/clients/installation crews/other trades etc.
  • Customer Service Politely deal with any potential issues/queries raised by customers in an organized and efficient manner.

Logistics & Warehouse Duties

  • Keep track of materials entering/exiting warehouse and allocate to jobs. Ensure that internationally procured goods/equipment/materials are ordered on time, paid for and delivered on time to chosen destination.
  • Keep track of ordered goods/equipment/materials to ensure that all items paid for are received. Liaising with manufacturers/suppliers to deal with any damages/faults/warranty issues and provide a prompt resolution to minimise site downtime/minimise any potential customer service issues.
  • Ensure value for money is provided by periodically cross checking various manufacturers/suppliers prices. Organise and maintain existing warehouse stock levels.
  • Carry out annual stock take and liaise with book keeper/accountant. Site Work Although the role is primarily office based, on occasion some site work may be necessary to meet target deadlines.

Role: Plumber/Heating Engineer
 
Job Description: Working as a member of our specialist team you will be responsible for the installation, site investigation, layout design, commissioning and servicing of the range of heating and ventilation systems we supply and maintain. Covering Munster, properties visited will be both new build and existing, domestic and small scale industrial. You must be a time served plumber with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. Our head office is in Killarney and therefore the successful applicant could live anywhere in Kerry or West Cork.
 
Duties include, but are not limited to the following;
  • Installation of air source and ground source heat pumps alongside underfloor heating and radiator systems, installation of solar thermal panels, installation of domestic ventilation ducting and hrv/mev fan units, installation of wood boilers.
  • Completion of all necessary service/installation documentation and submission to office in a timely manner.
  • Servicing on systems as instructed.
  • Site visits to advise on technical aspects of design, installation or warranty claims.
  • Procure materials through approved suppliers, ensuring best value at all times.
  • Liaison with builders, trades, and homeowners - maintaining a professional and courteous manner at all times whilst you represent the company.
  • Maintaining job records to allow for tight monitoring of costs, and to ensure that clients are kept fully informed at all times.
  • Ensure all tools and test equipment are properly maintained.
  • Continually review and make recommendations for product and process improvements on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop strong product knowledge and maintain a high level of technical proficiency.
Person Specification:
  • Must demonstrate a positive and versatile ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Be happy to work alone or as part of a small team
  • Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Be capable of building positive working relationships to deliver high levels of customer service
  • Able to work extended hours and spend nights away as required without upsetting domestic situation
  • Able to commute reliably to site with clean or near clean driving licence
​Hours of Work:
​Flexi Contract, Mon-Fri, 24-40 hours per week, 8am to 5pm with some flexibility as determined by workload. Some weekend work/extended hours may be required from time to time to ensure timely completion of projects. We will also accept applications from self employed Plumbers.
 
Place of work:
 
As required by company workload, covering primarily (but not limited to) Kerry, Cork, Limerick.
 
Additional information:
  • Previous experience that would be desirable but not essential;
  • Previous experience installing heat pumps or other renewable systems
  • Previous experience/qualifications for working with f-gas
  • Working knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation.

  • Plumbing qualification
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in plumbing
  • Capable of planning out pipework and accurately estimating materials and labour
  • Safe pass
  • Full clean drivers licence
  • Own transport required
  • Experience towing a trailer
  • Flexi contract 24 to 40 hours pro rata
  • Must be Computer literate
  • Must have excellent spoken and written English
  • Must be able to perform basic paperwork and record keeping
